Hey DC-Heads! Come See Me Argue About My McCain Book! The good folks of Cato are holding a book-lunch forum, at which I'll debate the finer points of maverickdom, with former senior McCain strategist Lance Tarrance, Jr. More info -- including crucial RSVP/lunch data -- at this link.

Weirdo Texas Pronunciation Update: There is a city called Colorado City in Texas, located near one of the many several hundreds of Colorado Rivers in this country. Here's the weird part -- residents pronounce the "rado" section of "Colorado" as if it was spelled "ray-do." Like, rhyming with "Play-doh." WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE.
Also, if you take the 10 through Texas, making a detour up the 20 to go to Dallas, then heading back through Austin and Houston on your way to New Orleans, chances are non-trivial that you'll be driving through the Lone Star State for THREE FARKING DAYS. That is too many, I think we can all agree.
It's also weird to see so many Czech place names, and to hear a Czech-language polka song on a country radio station without any special explanation. Keep Texas weird!
