Letter From Ralph Nader: Hi kids! Blogging to you from an Internet cafe in Bloomsbury, with VU on the stereo and some Cool Brittannia kids all round me. Was quickly checking the e-mail, and found one from none other than Ralph Nader, under the subject line "Message from Ralph Nader." Here's what he wrote me: Dear Supporter:
I am writing to you today to ask for your help one last time for our historic 2000 campaign. The Federal Election Commission has just completed its audit of the Nader 2000 campaign and the general election committee needs to retire a small debt before we can officially close down the 2000 campaign committees. Because the audit took this long to complete, the resources we had as we concluded the campaign have now been depleted and we unexpectedly need to raise $20,000 before the end of the year to be able to finally close the committees.
Many of you have already contributed money or energy during the 2000 election to help get us on the ballot and build the Green Party. We thank you again.
If you have not already given the maximum to the General Committee ($1000) during the election year cycle of 2000-2001, we are asking you to send a donation made out to the Nader 2000 General Election Committee, P.O. Box 18002, Washington, D.C. 20036.
Because we have wound down virtually all of the campaign, we are no longer set up to take credit card donations.
Every bit will help us close up shop and look to the future. Please be as generous as you can and please follow the guidelines below. Thank you.
Ralph Nader I report, you decide!

Merry Christmas & All That!: I’m off, then. Might post a thing or two from your favorite Continent; might not. Don’t bother trying to break into my luxurious Los Feliz one-bedroom -- it will be occupied by a cell of known (or at least suspected) libertarians; and in the cruelly prescient lyrics of Jeff Whalen, “a libertarian never says good-bye.” I’ll reiterate my hopeless plea from before -- don’t send e-mail until Jan. 13! I ain’t a-gonna read it anyway, unless you’re one of my editors, and it will cost me money to download. If there is anything in particular you’d like me to pay attention to in France, please leave a (tasteful) suggestion in the comments box. See you in 2003!
